Tremron Construction in Palo Alto, CA | Ashford Contractors
We provide independent Tremron paver and retaining wall construction across Palo Alto, from Crescent Park driveway replacements to Barron Park patio builds. We’re not a Tremron dealer or authorized installer: we’re a general contractor that sources genuine Tremron units, matches existing field, and does the base work right so the surface lasts. What makes our Tremron work different here is simple: we’ve learned to build around Palo Alto’s protected trees before we ever set a paver. Call (877) 752-3868 for a free estimate.
Why Palo Alto Residents Choose Us for Tremron Service
Most hardscape crews in Palo Alto know how to lay pavers. Far fewer know how to blend a new Tremron field into one that’s been down for fifteen years, or when to re-lay versus replace. We’ve installed and repaired Tremron Mega Olde Towne drives, Olde Towne patios, and Suburban and Quadro retaining walls across the 94303, 94304, and 94306 ZIP codes long enough to recognize the brand’s wet-cast and tumbled lines by their edge profiles and color drift. Glen Mossier, our owner, trained in construction technology at Skyline College and has spent two decades watching how Bay Area sun and rain actually move through paver joints. We bring that same eye to every Tremron job in Palo Alto. We also carry OEM-compatible Tremron units and quality aftermarket polymeric joint sand locally, which means fewer supply-chain delays when your driveway apron needs matching pavers. Common Tremron Construction Problems We Solve in Palo Alto
- Efflorescence whitening on tumbled pavers. Palo Alto’s south- and west-facing exposures bake Tremron Capri, Antigua, and Tuscan pavers hard during summer. Add irrigation overspray and you get that chalky white bloom on the surface. We clean it properly and adjust the drainage or spray heads so it doesn’t come right back in six months.
- Joint-sand washout and paver migration along driveway aprons. The 94306 ranch and Eichler lots often sit on older fill with thin original base. When November-to-March rain finds the soft spots, the sand washes out and pavers start to drift. We re-set the field on a compacted aggregate base and re-sand with polymeric joint sand that holds.
- Segmental retaining wall settlement and bulging. Old Palo Alto and Crescent Park foothill lots slope, and wall footings set without adequate drainage behind them eventually bulge or settle. We rebuild the footing, add proper drain aggregate and a perf pipe, and re-stack the Tremron Suburban or Quadro blocks so the wall stays plumb.
- Cracked or chipped tumbled paver edges. Vehicle loads over an undersized base crack Tremron tumbled pavers along the edges. We excavate the failed area, fix the base, and replace only the damaged units, matching the existing color and dimension so the patch disappears.
- Clay-soil staining on driveways and patios. Palo Alto’s clay soils track onto pavers after storms and leave a reddish-brown film. We clean and, where it makes sense, seal the surface so the next storm doesn’t leave the same mess.
Tremron Service in Palo Alto: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Palo Alto’s tree protection ordinance is the single biggest wildcard in any hardscape project here, and it hits Tremron work harder than most people expect. Protected coast live oaks on a lot dictate setback lines, root-zone exclusion fencing during excavation, and sometimes the entire paver driveway or patio footprint before the design is even drawn. That means we routinely route Tremron paver bands and edge restraints around arborist-mandated exclusion zones, and we hand-excavate base within protected root zones where a machine can’t go. In Professorville, a homeowner wanted a new Tremron Mega Olde Towne driveway, but the arborist’s root-zone exclusion fencing cut the usable paving area down and forced us to hand-dig the base near a heritage live oak. We re-laid the Tremron field with a proper compacted aggregate base and polymeric joint sand, tied the new apron into the existing street grade, and finished with a drainage swale so the November-to-March rain wouldn’t pool against the 1920s garage. The homeowners got the paver driveway they wanted without touching a protected root. That kind of tree-driven design constraint simply doesn’t apply the same way in neighboring Mountain View or Menlo Park. Our full Palo Alto service area coverage includes every neighborhood where the arborist review shapes the job.
Tremron Models & Products We Service in Palo Alto
We work on the full Tremron residential hardscape range: Mega Olde Towne pavers, Olde Towne and Olde Towne 65mm pavers, Suburban and Quadro segmental retaining wall blocks, and the Paving Stones tumbled lines (Capri, Antigua, and Tuscan). For repairs, we source genuine Tremron units to match the existing field’s color and dimension, including Emerald Lake Hills Tremron service projects. Where the OEM edge restraint or joint sand has aged out or isn’t color-stable anymore, we use quality aftermarket polymeric sand and restraints that hold up better in Palo Alto’s wet-dry cycling. And we’ll tell you straight when a localized re-lay and re-sand is the right call versus a full tear-out. Pushing replacement on a sound base isn’t how we build.

FAQs – Tremron Construction in Palo Alto
Yes, frequently. If a protected coast live oak sits on or near your lot, the arborist review can dictate setback lines and root-zone exclusion fencing that shrink or reshape your hardscape before we ever lay a Tremron paver. We design around the tree, not through its roots. Call (877) 752-3868 and we’ll tell you what your lot actually allows.
Very well when the base and joint sand are done right. Palo Alto’s ~15 – 17 inches of rain, concentrated November through March, plus hard summer sun on south and west exposures means the weak points are joint-sand washout and efflorescence, not the paver units themselves. We build for those two failure modes specifically.
If the wall face is bulging or leaning, the problem is almost always behind it: no drain aggregate, no perf pipe, or a footing that wasn’t wide enough for the slope. We’ll excavate, see what’s actually there, and tell you whether we can re-stack the Tremron blocks or need to rebuild the footing, drawing on our experience with Tremron in Los Altos Hills. Most bulging walls need a footing and drainage fix, not just cosmetic re-stacking.
We can, and on clay-heavy Palo Alto lots it often makes sense. Sealing reduces clay staining after storms and slows efflorescence on tumbled lines like Capri and Antigua. But sealing is an add-on, not a default. We’ll only recommend it when the exposure and soil actually call for it.
On a fixed quote, no. The one honest exception is when we open the base and find something we couldn’t see, like old fill that won’t compact or a root zone that extends further than the arborist flagged. We document what we find, show you the condition, and get your sign-off before any change. No change orders without your approval. Call (877) 752-3868 for a line-item quote.
